A Simple Device for Mesh Skin Graft and It¢¥s Clinical Experiences

Abstract
Resurfacing of skin after extensive deep burn is a problem when sufficient amounts of healthy skin are not avilable; Free sheet graft of split tickness only able to cover an area of approximatly same surface as the donor area. And biological dressings should be, sooner or later, replaced by his own skin.
Tanner and Vanceput in 1964 introduced the mesh graft dermatome with which they were able to cover an area three times larger than the original size of donor skin. This dermatome is quite expensive and not available in major medical centers of this country.
Authors prepared a simple device to produce expanded skin graft, so called "Mesh graft Dermatome". This device consists of No. 11 surgical knife blades fixed in a dental resin plate.
Our experience with this dermatome has been limited, however, we have found the meshed skin produced with this simple device provided greater cover age, rpid epithelization and spontaneous drainage.
